Boeing F-15EX Eagle II – Air Superiority

The F-15 has been around since 1972. Still undefeated in air-to-air combat. The EX is the latest version, and it’s a beast.

What’s New

Modern avionics. The AN/APG-82(V)1 radar sees further, tracks more targets, handles electronic warfare better. Cockpit displays are current generation.

Same basic airframe but reinforced. Can carry more ordnance – up to 29,500 pounds of payload. That’s a lot of missiles and bombs.

The Specs

Mach 2.5+ still. 60,000 foot ceiling. Twin F110 engines making 29,000 pounds of thrust each. The thrust-to-weight ratio is insane.

Range around 2,400 nautical miles. Can buddy refuel or hit a tanker for longer missions.

Weapons

Air-to-air: AIM-120 AMRAAMs, AIM-9X Sidewinders, the new AIM-260. Can engage beyond visual range with confidence.

Air-to-ground: JDAMs, small diameter bombs, JASSM cruise missiles. Multi-role capability the original F-15A never had.

Plus that M61 Vulcan cannon for when you need to go old school.

Why Build More F-15s

F-35s are great but expensive to operate. F-15EX fills the gap – lower operating costs, proven reliability, massive payload capacity. Different tools for different jobs.

Air Force plans for 144 total. First ones already delivered. Replaces aging F-15C/D fleet that’s literally falling apart from age.
